Pride Parade is usually a big celebration that witnesses people coming together from different places and locations just to celebrate their most authentic selves, in respective of whatsoever the person has become.
With the streets normally filled with like-minded folds, offering one another the support and love needs, many of the celebrators, however, don’t go back home to receive the same love and welcoming environment.
Numerous LGBTQ+ youths are banned, disowned, emotionally abused and abandoned and even kicked out of their homes simply because of the path they chose.
Reportedly, studies have overtime suggested that more than 40% of homeless young girls and boys are LGBTQ+ People who have been banned from their own homes and abandoned to fend for themselves without no financial assistance from their parents.
But thankfully, the world is not all discriminating as it is still filled with so many good people who are very much willing to accept anyone and love them like theirs.
A man has however gone viral after spending the entire day at the Pittsburgh pride parade giving out free hugs to people.
It is recorded that Howie Dittman gave an estimated over 700 free hugs to people, – making those in the queer community feel all the support and love as well as comfortable with themselves. While he also listened to their stories, he wrote about his experience on his Facebook page.
“Imagine that your child feels SO LOST FROM YOU that they sink into the arms of a complete stranger and sob endlessly just because that stranger is wearing a shirt offering hugs from a dad. Think of the depths of their pain. Try to imagine how deep those cuts must be,” he wrote.
Dittman also shared touching stories of two people he met on parade.
This woman has tears in her eyes after hugging Dittman.
Dittman post has gone viral with 200,000 reactions and shares.
He however has a Facebook Page called Helping Butler County.
“ I seek for opportunities to change a world or two” Dittman said.
