research done in the University of North Carolina included 8,000 samples in measuring the weight changes that happen in couples during and after a certain period of time. Married women tend to gain on average 24 pounds in between 5 to 6 years after their marriage. Cohabitation for women shows an average increase of 22 pounds and those who don’t live together experience 13 pounds of increase.

Men also show the same symptoms with the tendency to gain 25 more pounds on average after living with their significant other for more than 2 years.

Not really. Since the scientists found out that obesity is relevant to long-term romantic relationships, it also shows that couples are more willing to chase after a healthier lifestyle. It’s shown that smoking and alcohol abuse decrease as people get married.

The research went further into figuring out if these couples were actually happy or unhappy. The National Institute of Health found out that a happily married couple had twice the chance to gain weight compared to the ones who are not as happy.

And that’s actually because you know your partner loves you for who you are, not what you eat or how you look!

New England Journal of Medicine shows a study where married partners tend to adapt to each other’s habits, such as gaining weight. You have a 37% chance to gain weight, following your partner because you are adapting to their lifestyle.

Each of you have the psychological capability to make your partner eat more!
